Stevie - Quit?
The seven deadly Flickr sins! Go on, you can swear if you want to, because holy f**king lord she's working it here isn't she? There's no point beating around the bush, Stevie looks smoking at the best of times, but here, well, you know. Now. That's done with, out of your system right? Good. One of my biggest criticisms I get from people in general isn't always a critical putdown as such, but a misunderstanding. And it's usually from guys, and sometimes girls who are insecure or a bit bitchy. And it's that age old "you only take photos of hot chicks to get them naked and hit on them, how many have you fucked, you should be ashamed of yourself etc etc..." Er no. On several occasions I've got caught out by this, as frankly it's easier to play along with the 'Dave has an ideal job, shooting pretty ladies' thing than it is to continually explain and justify it to people. It's easier when you're sat in a bar with a bunch of guys and you're talking about doing this to laugh along and play it off as 'being cool' and act smug about being around people as stunningly beautiful as Stevie here. Fact is, I do this for a reason. I do it because the ability and want and desire to record people, and to a greater extent the fascination with what it is about women in general that utterly captivates guys, is a massive segment of what makes me bother to pick up a camera in the first place. It's often the reason I bother to get up in a morning, it's a fuel, it's a fire and it drives me. As I've so often said, it's trying to capture real personalities that hide behind the outer shell, and to demonstrate those tiny wee things that make us guys dumb-founded by women that matters to me. Stevie, and every other woman I've ever shot would attest (I think) to my utter paranoia about being 'that guy' when shooting stuff like this. I probably make things more difficult with the paranoia than by being a sleezy dick. I've never once dated a 'model', never once been hit on by a model (though that's kinda understandable!) and only ever flirted with them on occasion... And honestly, I think it's this, that means I can get away with trying to shoot stuff like this. I think it's what comes through, and what means I'm succeeding (hopefully) in taking those pictures for the right reasons instead of being just another cockhead using his camera to try and fuck pretty girls. It's passionate to me that idea. And it makes m
